Healthy Intentions for the New Year

January 2, 2023

Dear Patients,

As we enter another New Year reflecting on the events and transformations of 2022, I was called to reach out to you and wish you a healthy and abundant 2023. For those who are not aware of my practice changes, my partnership and businesses, Coastal Acupuncture & Natural Health Center and Awakened Health were dissolved this past July. I learned a great deal about letting go and starting anew, recognizing that we all have the ability to adapt to changes and transform to become even better versions of ourselves from these changes. I have been practicing at two wonderful clinics, OC Whole Family Wellness in Laguna Hills and Magnolia Wellness OC in Costa Mesa, to serve patients throughout Orange County and beyond.

Shifting my focus from managing staff and practitioners and running a clinic to primarily providing patient care and birthing my new company, Inspire Natural Wellness, has truly allowed for expansion and freedom, and deepened my passion for inspiring and empowering patients along their wellness journey.  The transition was definitely not a walk in the park, at first, but sometimes having your life turned upside down is exactly what is needed to remember your truth and be in your purpose again.

I am so very grateful for the patients, who have followed me and continued their care despite all of the changes. Connecting with and supporting you in your wellness journey is so very rewarding and fulfilling. If we have not connected in many years and you are ready to step back into your wellness journey with me, I am here for you. If you are doing well and receiving care elsewhere, I would love to hear about your healing.

We often make resolutions and goals for the New Year, which are all well and good but they are often short-lived when motivating reasons and intentions behind the resolutions have not been explored. Intentions allow us to focus on cultivating purpose and alignment with our goals to create long-lasting habits and actualize our vision.

Reflecting on the following questions can help to clarify your intentions:

  • What do you want to create or nurture in your life?

  • What needs to be released?

  • What brings you joy and purpose?

  • What do you want your life to feel, look, and be like?

Meditation is a powerful way to calm a busy mind, connect with present moment awareness and clarify and set intentions. Get your intentions flowing by clicking HERE for a 6 minute Intention Setting Meditation.

The New Year is also time for reflection on what needs to be released from the past year. With all of the festive food and drink of the holidays that many of us have partaken in, a cleanse or detox may be in order. A detox diet gives the liver, one of the major organs for detoxification, a break from the excess food and alcohol it has to process, reduces inflammation, improves clarity and energy, and supports digestion and weight loss. The key to a healthy cleanse is to eliminate inflammatory foods, such as gluten, refined sugar, dairy, processed and fried foods, as well as coffee, alcohol, and recreational drugs.

In addition, nourish your body with plenty of:

  • Fiber from organic fruits and veggies

  • Hydration from filtered water, soups, broths, non-caffeinated teas, green juices and smoothies

  • Healthy fats from nuts, seeds, avocados, flax oil and olive oil

  • Plant-based proteins, such as beans with gluten-free grains

Green tea, milk thistle tea, turmeric, ginger, parsley, cilantro, dandelion leaf, artichokes, garlic, onions and cruciferous and green leafy vegetables have exceptional detoxifying and liver supportive properties.  If you are interested in starting a balanced and healthy detoxification plan, please contact one of my offices to schedule an appointment.

Detoxification is not limited to just diet. Detoxing from household chemicals, excess screen time, social media, unhealthy habits and/or toxic relationships is important for cleansing the whole body, mind and spirit, releasing what is not serving us and starting anew. Ask yourself what needs to be released to make room for your intentions to take seed and flourish.

I often ask my patients what intentions they would like to set for their treatment and the New Year and the most common answer is peace. Peace is my intention for 2023 as well. Whatever yours may be I send you lots of love and support in manifesting healthy intentions for the New Year.

Happy and Healthy New Year!

Yours in Wellness,
