Dr. Tang’s Inspire Daily Self-Care Challenge

January 31, 2023

Dear Patients,

To anchor in your healthy intentions for 2023 and begin to put them into practice, I was called to offer an Inspire Daily Self-Care February Challenge. For the month of February, commit to giving yourself care, nourishment and joy daily for 28 days. I will be sharing tips on Instagram and Facebook @inspire_natural_wellness to move past excuses and step into greater, consistent self-care. I’ll also be doing the challenge along with you so you won’t be alone in your endeavors to prioritize your self-care.

If you aren’t sure if this challenge is necessary or resonates with you, ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you often feel burnt out, tired, irritable and/or unmotivated?

  • Do you feel overwhelmed, stressed, and/or anxious by your busy schedule?

  • Do you typically feel guilty about taking time for yourself?

  • Do you regularly put others’ needs ahead of yours?

  • Do you have difficulty with consistently eating healthy, moving your body, resting, scheduling health care appointments or treatments for yourself, taking your supplements, or taking time to connect with yourself and friends?

  • Do you usually enjoy giving to others but notice that you feel resentful and/or obligated to always say yes to others?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then it’s time to shift and commit to your self-care.

To help prepare you and support you in your commitment, I encourage you to make a joy list. Write down what brings you joy and feeds your mind, body and soul on this list. Examples could be taking 3 deep belly breaths to calm the nervous system, moving your body, being in nature, or stopping to take a break and eat lunch to refuel and regulate your blood sugar.

Next schedule your joyful, self-care activities into your February calendar so that each day holds space and time for you. You may add in a different self-care activity for each day or repeat activities that you would like to create consistency with. The exercise of being very clear about your self-care activities and scheduling time for yourself on the calendar is powerful and helps you commit to and manifest your greater love and care for yourself. If items on your list, such as traveling will not logistically happen in the month of February, no problem. Simply add it to a later date on your calendar.

Check your calendar daily as it serves as a reminder of your activity for the day. This challenge is not meant to add more busyness to your schedule but rather support more energy, motivation and space for creating the balance and nourishment available to you.

Invite your friends to join you in the challenge and support one another with daily check ins. Holding one another accountable with positive reinforcement encourages greater commitment and compliance.

Finally, be aware of the limiting beliefs and sabotaging voice in your head that is very adept at blocking you from following through with your intentions. Know that you can choose to listen to the loving, compassionate and gentle voice, encouraging you to love and care for yourself as you would your close loved one. I’ll be discussing more about listening to your higher Self on Facebook and Instagram. If you feel so inclined to share and deepen your commitment, post about your acts of self-care and mention @inspire_natural_wellness (except on your social media free day of course).

To assist with this self-care challenge, I am posting my daily self-care calendar here. You are welcome to join me in the activities I have mapped out for myself or create your own.

You are worthy and deserving of the abundance of joy, love and care that is waiting to be tapped into. I can’t wait to see how your self-care unfolds!

Yours in Wellness,

Dr. Suzanne Tang, ND, LAc
